Acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment that can support you at every stage of your journey to motherhood and beyond.
Growing a new human is the utmost natural, yet miraculous process and one that sees you journey through a myriad of changes to your body, mind and spirit. To help you navigate through these changes, it is important to garner the right supports.
As an Acupuncturist focussing on fertility, pregnancy and all things women’s health, I am here and available to support you to prepare your body for conception (see my Fertility section), journey through each stage of the three trimesters; prepare for the birthing process; and in recalibrating your body and mind after birth.
During pregnancy, many women experience a variety of uncomfortable symptoms including nausea and vomiting, lower pelvic pain, headaches, sleep problems and digestive issues. Acupuncture can help to alleviate these uncomfortable symptoms and more specifically research has demonstrated that it can help to:
– calm the nervous system, helping you to feel relaxed and reduce the stress response (Betts, Smith and Hannah, 2012);
– demonstrate beneficial hormonal responses with decreased miscarriage rates (Betts, Smith and Hannah, 2012)
– reduce some of the uncomfortable symptoms of pregnancy including nausea and vomiting associated with morning sickness (Ozgoli and Saei Ghare Naz, 2018);
– support a turning of breech presentations (Vas, Aranda-Regules and Modesto, 2013).
Each woman is different and as such her journey through pregnancy will be unique. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss your experience and any symptoms that you have to see if I can support you to maintain optimal health of your mind, body and spirit during this special time.
