October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗

Empowering Women Through Awareness, Early Detection, and Gentle Prevention

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — a time to honour the women and families whose lives have been touched by breast cancer, to raise awareness around early detection, and to celebrate the incredible strength of those walking this path.

One of our beautiful patients, Veronica, recently shared her story with us. With her permission, we wanted to share a small part of her message, as a reminder of how important body awareness and early action can be:

“One of the biggest things I wish I had known is that the signs of breast cancer are much more than just a lump. It can feel like swelling, a change in tissue texture, dimpling of the skin, nipple discharge, or anything unusual for you. Early detection is key and if your doctor dismisses your concern, please get a second opinion. I wish I had sooner.”

Every day, 58 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer — and 1 in 7 women will face a diagnosis in their lifetime. But survival rates continue to rise thanks to awareness, education, and early detection.

Understanding Breast Changes

Breast cancer doesn’t always present as a single lump. Some other signs to look out for include:

  • Thickening, swelling, or changes in breast tissue texture

  • Alterations in size or shape of the breast

  • Skin dimpling, redness, or rash

  • Nipple inversion, discharge, or changes in direction

  • Pain, tenderness, or inflammation unrelated to breastfeeding

If something feels different or unusual for your body, trust that intuition — and get it checked. Early detection not only saves lives but can also mean more gentle and effective treatment options.

A Gentle Approach to Breast Health: Thermography

At Womb to World, we believe that caring for your body should feel supportive, not stressful. This is why we’re honoured to host Jessica Ehrich, our Advanced Thermographist, in clinic on Thursday, October 31st.

Thermography is a radiation-free, touch-free, and completely painless screening option that uses thermal imaging to detect subtle changes in heat patterns that may indicate inflammation, vascular changes, or other imbalances.

It’s particularly supportive for women who:

  • Have dense breast tissue or implants

  • Prefer a radiation-free alternative or complement to mammography

  • Want to take a preventative, holistic approach to breast and body awareness

Jessica’s work is grounded in a deep respect for the body’s innate intelligence. Through thermography, she helps illuminate areas that may need further attention — not only for breast health, but also for the heart, thyroid, immune system, digestion, and overall vitality.

Her approach is gentle, educational, and empowering — helping women cultivate trust in their body’s natural rhythms.

A Message of Hope and Awareness

Veronica’s courage, and the stories of countless others, remind us that awareness truly can save lives. This month, we invite you to:

💗 Book your breast screening or thermography session

💗 Check in with your body and trust your intuition

💗 Hug your loved ones close, and remind them to do the same

Awareness, education, and self-care are the most powerful tools we have.
