There is a very unique kind of waiting that happens when you are trying to conceive.
It is a space between hope and uncertainty.
A space where your heart is already imagining a future you deeply desire, while your body seems to be taking its own time.
You imagine the pregnancy announcement.
You picture your growing belly.
You dream about meeting your baby and the life you will create together.
And yet, month after month, you find yourself waiting.
Waiting for the positive test.
Waiting for answers.
Waiting for your body to do something that feels so natural, yet sometimes feels incredibly complicated.
For many women, this journey carries emotions that are difficult to explain.
There can be excitement and love, but also fear, sadness, frustration and exhaustion.
“What if something is wrong with me?”
“Why is this taking longer than I expected?”
“Will my body be able to do this?”
These thoughts can quietly become part of everyday life.
You continue working.
You show up for your family and friends.
You make plans.
You smile and keep moving forward.
But underneath everything, there may be a constant background conversation about fertility, your health, your reproductive system and what is happening inside the body you have lived in your whole life.
My own fertility journey
I understand this journey not only as a practitioner, but also personally.
After many years of supporting women through fertility, pregnancy and postpartum, I experienced IVF myself.
Going through IVF changed the way I see this journey forever.
I understood the emotional intensity of wanting something so deeply.
The excitement of dreaming about the future.
The hope of imagining yourself pregnant.
The vulnerability of waiting for results.
The fear of disappointment.
The questions that come with wondering if your body is working the way it should.
During my own fertility journey, I realised that the first thing I needed was not to do more.
It was to pause.
To listen.
To reconnect with myself.
To rebuild trust in my body and my mind.
To soften the expectations I placed on myself and the expectations I felt from others.
To breathe.
To allow myself to be cared for, supported and loved by my partner and the people around me.
The healing power of being cared for
One of the most nurturing parts of this experience was massage.
I still remember those sessions so clearly.
The warmth of the room.
The soft lighting.
The calming aroma.
The feeling of safe and compassionate touch on my skin.
Slowly, the tension I had been carrying every day began to release.
My breathing became deeper.
My heartbeat slowed.
My mind became quieter.
For a moment, I wasn’t thinking about appointments, results or what would happen next.
I was simply present.
My body was able to receive.
My nervous system was able to soften.
And I felt cared for.
How massage can support you during your fertility journey
Massage can be a deeply supportive and nurturing part of your fertility journey, offering a moment to slow down, reconnect with your body and care for yourself while navigating the emotional and physical experiences of trying to conceive.
Through intentional touch, massage creates space for relaxation, nervous system support and a deeper sense of connection with yourself.
Our bodies carry so much of what we experience.
The stress.
The emotions.
The moments where we have had to stay strong.
During times of uncertainty, our bodies can often hold tension in ways we don’t always notice. Gentle and mindful touch can offer an opportunity to soften, release and reconnect with the body that has carried us through every step of our journey.
Massage may support the body by:
encouraging relaxation and nervous system regulation
helping to reduce physical tension held within the body
supporting healthy circulation and tissue nourishment
releasing areas of restriction and tension, including through the diaphragm, pelvis and surrounding structures
creating a moment of stillness, connection and self-care
Sometimes, the greatest gift we can offer ourselves is not doing more, fixing more or searching for the next answer.
Sometimes, it is allowing ourselves to pause.
To receive.
To feel supported.
Creating space for what comes next
I remember leaving my own massage sessions feeling as though there was more space inside me.
Space in my body.
Space in my heart.
Space to breathe.
Space to welcome whatever the next chapter would bring.
Today, supporting women through fertility feels even more meaningful because I have walked this path too.
I know the uncertainty.
I know the waiting.
I know the hope.
I know how powerful it can feel to have someone hold space for you during such a deeply personal chapter.
At Womb to World, my intention is not only to care for your body.
It is to listen to your story.
To honour everything that has brought you here.
To offer a place where you can slow down, reconnect and feel supported.
Because your body deserves kindness.
Your journey deserves compassion.
And you deserve to feel cared for, exactly where you are.
